Essay
Just saying the word "Mother" brings a warm feeling to the heart. My mother is my first teacher, my friend and the real support of our home.
My mother's day begins before everyone else's. She gets up at dawn, sweeps the courtyard, does the prayers and prepares a hot breakfast for all of us. Every day I see her hurry to pack my tiffin and send me to school on time. All day she does the housework and looks after my grandmother, and yet she never says she is tired.
My mother is very loving, but she also scolds me when I make a mistake. Her anger lasts only a short time, because behind it is only her wish for my good. In the evening she sits beside me and helps me study. If I do not understand a question, she patiently explains it again and again. At bedtime she tells me lovely stories.
When I fall ill, my mother stays awake all night. When her hand touches my forehead, I feel half better already. She remembers what everyone at home likes and dislikes. She welcomes guests with a smile and helps the neighbours too when they are in trouble.
It was my mother who taught me to tell the truth, respect elders and not waste food. Because of her I have formed good habits. Since a mother does so much for us, we too should help her with her work and never hurt her. When I grow up, I will do such work that my mother will feel proud of me. My mother is the best mother in the world.
