Entrepreneur: Meaning and Definition
The word entrepreneur comes from the French word entreprendre, which means "to undertake". An entrepreneur is a person who gets an idea, collects money, men, material and machines, takes risk and starts a new business to earn profit.
Definition: An entrepreneur is a person who identifies a business opportunity, organises the needed resources and bears the risk of running a new enterprise for profit and growth.
- J.A. Schumpeter: An entrepreneur is an innovator who brings new combinations of production into the economy.
- Peter F. Drucker: An entrepreneur always searches for change, responds to it and exploits it as an opportunity.
Entrepreneurship is the process or activity of creating and running a new enterprise. Entrepreneur is the person; entrepreneurship is the process.
